Innovation alliance for training programmes

for deforestation-free supply chains in Europe

Welcome!

We’re back with a new edition of the EMMA4EU newsletter, an initiative co-funded by the European Commission to tackle embedded deforestation by connecting higher education institutions, businesses, and NGOs, while creating new opportunities for capacity building, training, and knowledge sharing.

4 workshops dedicated to tools and strategies for deforestation-free supply chains

To encourage dialogue and collaboration between businesses, policymakers, researchers, and civil society, EMMA4EU has organised, between September 2025 and February 2026, a series of awareness workshops dedicated to tools and strategies for deforestation-free supply chains.

Two workshops have already been held in Germany and the Netherlands, while two additional workshops are scheduled to take place in Italy and Denmark in the coming weeks 👇

Italy - February 18

Hosted by the University of Padua in collaboration with Etifor | Valuing Nature and Forema, this workshop will provide an overview of the implementation status and future outlook of key European Green Deal regulations, including the CSRD and the EUDR. With a focus on the agro-forestry sector, it will explore the impacts of recent regulatory delays and share insights from associations and companies actively involved in these processes.

The first workshop, held in Bonn and organized by the University of Freiburg in collaboration with OroVerde and the Global Nature Fund, focused on the implications of the EUDR for German companies and institutions in agriculture, forestry, and international trade. The second workshop, hosted by Wageningen University & Research, explored regulatory uncertainty around the EUDR and the CSDDD, addressing how recent delays and calls for simplification affect due diligence requirements. Have you already subscribed to our new free MOOC?

Thanks to the collaboration with Wageningen University & Research, and building on the experience of our first edition, EMMA4EU has developed an online, free-of-charge, advanced training course (MOOC) to support students and professionals from around the world in managing deforestation-free supply chains.

The course provides practical knowledge and tools to navigate the challenges of implementing the EUDR and advancing towards deforestation-free supply chains through seven dedicated modules.
